Gaberlunzie's New Album

The long awaited new album 'Gallimaufry' is now released. What strange word I hear you say. I quote from Oxford English Dicionary

NOUN
A confused jumble or medley of things.
eg: ‘a glorious gallimaufry of childhood perceptions’ “

We decided to call the album Gallimaufry because although the songs are mainly Scottish there was no real theme. So here is our mixture of songs.

Gordon Menzies: vocals, guitar, mandoline, banjo and harmonica.
Robin Watson: vocals, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards.

Special thanks to Jimmy McNicol & Ernie Rea (guitars on track 9) and to John Watson for piano.

Photography by Janet Watson.

Recorded at the Haven studios for
Kelvin Records ©2017.
Produced by RW.

Gaberlunzie's Album

On 28th December 2013, to herald their 45th anniversary year, Gaberlunzie turned their annual Milnathort Christmas concert into a recording session and invited a few friends to come along, to sing or play or both. The end result is the new double disc album 'Gaberlunzie and Friends in Concert'.

The friends are, in alphabetical order
David Don ...........Bass guitar
Tich Frier......Vocal harmonies
Graeme Marshall...Lead guitar
Sarah Menzies............. Singer
Andy Philip............ Accordion.

The concert was sold out and in fact, we had to borrow some chairs from the Jolly Beggars pub next door to the hall. Judging by the enthusiastic sound, the audience had a good time and I can assure you, so did the cast. It was BYOB after all.

Order from Gordon on the contact phone or e-mail (click here) or come and get it at the gigs.

Bernard Noël "Barney" McKenna (1939-2012)

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our friend Barney McKenna. His iconic role with the Dubliners has brought pleasure to countless folk worldwide. We first met him in the Scotia Bar in Glasgow in the mid Sixties and his cheery craic and sense of humour never failed throughout the years. We last gigged with the Dubs in Troon a couple of years ago where Barney's solo tenor banjo playing raised the roof. You and your music Barney, are a sad loss to the world. Best regards to the other lads of the band. Remember the good times.

Partick Burgh Halls

Some of the most enjoyable concerts of our past years were the annual Christmastime shows in the MacLellan Galleries, Glasgow. Over the years our guests included Jimmy MacGregor, Alastair Macdonald and Ian Mackintosh to name but a few. This venue was sadly taken out of commission.

A new tradition has the Gabs playing their second Partick Burgh Halls gig on Saturday 12th December 2009. The Gabs look forward to seeing many of their old friends and making some new ones.

Ticket reservations can be made by calling Gordon on 01577 840597 or 07850178631.

When the Gabs played the gig at Glenbuchat they had a surprise visit from their old pal

the 'Laird of Strathdon' Billy Connolly.

Relaxing after the gig in Basel Switzerland... have you any idea how much that pint cost!?
